The Quorum of the Seventy
Choice 1: Luke 10:1–24. “The Lord Appointed Other Seventy Also”
1. Review Luke 10:1–24. Based on these verses, write a summary of the Lord’s
counsel and instructions He gave the seventy.
The Lord appointed the 70 and he sent them where he himself would have gone. The Lord gave them specific instructions on where to go and what to do, because they are representing the Lord. The Lord trusts them and loves them. I think their relationship is really important.
Articles of Faith 1:6 states, “We believe in the same organization that existed in
the Primitive Church.” Using the principles taught from Luke 10:1–2, 8–9, 17–20,
write a paragraph that supports this Article of Faith. The primitive church is the church that first existed in this world. It is important for the Lord to keep his church in order and to keep the church the way it was organized. It is important that the 70 keeps the orders given from God. They are called of Him so he trusts him.
Go to the Church’s scripture website and read the topic of “Seventy” in the Guide
to the Scriptures. Describe in one or two sentences how the scriptures show the
existence of this office in the priesthood. The 70 from the topics of the church website is explained that they are to be special witnesses of Christ. I think the 70 definitely does that well. They are to do the work of Christ and go all throughout the world. These scriptures show that the 70 is on the errand of the Lord.
